NEW ALTERNATOR 1994-95 CHEVROLET BLAZER S10 TRUCK GMC JIMMY SONOMA BRAVADA 4 (Fits: 1994 Chevrolet) Brand New. 94 chevy truck: i replaced the alternator and it still Jan 14, 2008I have a 94 chevy truck that doesnt charge the battery, i replaced the alternator and it still doesnt charge. - Answered by a verified Chevy MechanicWhen you first start this truck or leave the key in the on position engine off, does the low charging indicator show up? Have you had the battery tested? Terminals all clean?Ok you do have a gauge, but according to my info there should also be a light. I have seen this problem a few times. The problem is that the light is actually part of the charging circut. If the bulb blows, the alternator gets no turn on voltage. This voltage is applied through the brown wire on the alternator. The fuse that powers all of this is the GAUGES fuse in the fuse block. Take a look at it and see if you can see a charge light that is not coming on with the key in the on position engine off. Let me know if you can find it.According to my schematic they all have one. Do you have a voltmeter?Okay then, with the key in the on position do you have voltage to the 20 amp GAUGES fuse in the fuse block? Do you have voltage at the brown wire at the alternator? This is my concern. The GAUGES fuse powers that brown wire though the instrument cluster. This is where my bulb theory comes into play. I would next advise you to remove the instrument cluster and check for power at terminal F which is the feed from the fuse and terminal A which is the output to the alternator. If you find voltage at F but not at A you can assume that there is a problem in the instrument panel printied circut or you can check for a blown bulb. As I stated, my info shows that all of these trucks with or without gauges have an indicator lamp. If this is blown it will cause for this problem. It should be marked on the connector. If not you will want to look for the pink with black stripe as the voltage feed and the all brown for the output to the alternator. But it does not light up?Not a problem! Thanks for using justanswer and for the accept!!! Glad to hear you got it up and running once again!
