Mass Air Flow Chevy S10 problem!? | Yahoo Answers
answerso››Maintenance & Repairs›NextNov 19, 2012I have a chevy 2001 s10 4.3 problem. so im getting the code p0101. Its comes up as the mass air flow sensor is malfunctioning. Its really bad. I can barely drive the damn thing. It bucks around at around two thousand rmps and dosent want toshift right. It has complete loss of power all the time. I'll even push the pedal to the floor and my rpms will go up but the truck goes slower.Followers: 2Status: OpenIt's $35 replace it, if you are sure you PCV is OK if you unplug it and plug the vacuum hole up it should run at base setting and should run fairly well. Also check the brake booster one way check valve and see if it's bad, normally the brakes act up i it's leaking but if you get a hole in the diaphragm in the boost devise would cause the same thing, so if the other stuff does not work pull the hose off the brake booster and plug it up and see if that does it. and there is other problems it could be but try these first and then get back to us.
let us know what you find ok?
For your information they read as follows closed fully open 4.5 if it reads above 4.5 it's defective the .5 and above 4.5 volt readings are the factory limit for test purposes only so if it not reading between .5 and 4.5 it's defective.Best answer · 0Flow Chevy0Make sure the throttle body isn't loose, seen that. Check the TPS, seen that. Does the engine idle roughly? Cut out with it in gear and foot on brake? Those indicate the IAC. A loose throttle body can cause all sorts of strange problems, Spray a little starting fluid around the engine and listen to it idling, spray for a sec, listen, spray, listen, it'll narrow down a vacuum leak, that's what it sounds like. You'll find it, but it'll be in a place you can barely reach and can't see!0Sounds like your catalytic converter is clogged . If it doesnt run better with the MAF sensor unplugged, I'd bet your cat is clogged . If its not easy to drop exhaust try taking out the Oxygen sensor(s) before the Catalytic converter.
