2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee: im guessing pump, but who
Feb 26, 20112004 Jeep Grand Cherokee: im guessing pump, but who know - Answered by a verified Jeep Mechanic But the fuel filter is cheaper and easier to change. So you could change it first and hope for the best. Then if it does not have any change, replace the fuel pump. Disconnect fuel supply, fuel return and fuel pressure lines at filterI would check fuel pressure. Spec is 49.2 psi ± 5 psi.If it only a few psi low while running, it could be just the filter. So, check it running then turn the key off and time the amount of time it takes the gage to drop to zero. Let me know the readings and time.Well, I would find someone that could check the fuel pressure before just guessing. But the fuel filter is cheaper and easier to change. So you could change it first and hope for the best. Then if it does not have any change, replace the fuel pump. That is the more expensive way, but if you can't check it properly...No your model Jeep has an external filter on the drivers side above the rear axle. The pump however is inside the tank.Perform Fuel System Pressure Release Procedure. Disconnect negative battery cable at battery. Raise vehicle. Clean area around 3 filter/regulator fittings. Disconnect fuel supply, fuel return and fuel pressure lines at filter/regulator. Remove 2 mounting bolts and remove filter/regulator. 1 - ORVR CONTROL VALVE 5 - FUEL PRESSURE LINE (FEMALE) 2 - FUEL SUPPLY LINE (TO FUEL RAIL) 6 - FUEL PUMP MODULE ASSEMBLY 3 - EVAP LINE 7 - FUEL FILTER/PRESSURE REGULATOR 4 - FUEL RETURN LINE (MALE) 8 - FUEL TANKNo problem, is there anything else? I would still find someone to check the fuel pressure.Thank you and have a good day and week end. What size engine do you have in your Jeep?OK, if you don't mind clicking the accept button on your way out today?
