Mar 07, 2012I have a clear inline fuel filter and noticed it was only half full? The cart run ok, but shouldn't it be full? I have not been able to run it much, but when you push the gas pedal, the engine rolls half over, and after about 2 seconds it fires up.

Nov 05, 2017How much fuel should be in the fuel filter? I recently disassembled and cleaned the Nikki carburetor on a17.5 HP engine. I replaced the needle as well as the gaskets. And noticed that there's barely any gasoline in the clear fuel filter. I have a photo that maybe hard to see but it was half full before I did the cleaning. Now hardly any fuel is in the filter.

Jul 29, 2011I thought the main tank might be the problem, so I replaced the inline fuel filter with a clear glass filter so that I could see the gas. I then hooked up a 12 gallon portable tank to bypass the main tank. The inline fuel filter will only stay about 1/4th full when the engine is running.

Feb 02, 2009Rebuilt the carb yesterday and replaced the filter with a clear one. Hardly any fuel in the filter so I run and replace the fuel pump. No change in the fuel level. (And it runs funny, stumbling like it's starving!) That's what I get for just throwing parts at it instead of diagnosing the real problem.

Jul 18, 2012If the filter has clear gas in it and then it turns brown, you just found your problem. It isn't the filter, it is the tank. I would suspect that the filter in the tank is gone. I would definitely rebuild the carb, but I would also get a glass jar and pump the fuel out into it from the truck and let it settle and see what the contents are.

What I would do, is charge it up and unplug the fuel line from the carb. Put the end into a jar and see if it pumps gas into it.
