Mar 05, 2016Only show this user. Thanks. That's a helpful diagram but the engine in the 2012 is different from the 2010. Nonetheless, I just slid under my vehicle and I think I see a small recessed drain plug at the bottom corner (passenger side) of the radiator. I'd do the first quick flush of the radiator in my 2004 Forester (41,000 miles) and install fresh antifreeze (any complaints about Walmart antifreeze?). The dealer said they will replace a engine control computer, claiming there is a recall. SOLVED: Engine block coolant drain plug location - Fixya
The location is a on the bottom of the engine block, just above where the oil dipstick enter the oil pan. If it does not have a block heater already installed, there will be a plug that takes a 14mm allen wrench/socket. Coolant must be drained to avoid being covered in it when the plug is removed.
