2002 honda civic manual transmission making whrrring noise
have a clunking noise coming from the transmission in a 2003 honda civic. only happens in lower gears when the manual clutch is engaged. clunking increases with the speed of the gear. read moreHi! Does the noise change when you depress the clutch pedal? Does the shifter move through the gears easier when the engine is off, clutch pedal pushed in?Ok, Most likely, the two are related. Most of the time, though, you will hear a difference in sound when the pedal is depressed (pressure off the clutch disc.) If the noise sounds like it's coming from the transmission bellhousing area, it's most likely the throw out bearing on the clutch shift fork that is making noise. When a clutch gets worn out, it gets much easier to shift through the gears when the engine is off. Also, the clutch pressure point on the pedal will be higher- you will have to let the pedal out farther to get the clutch to catch. If this sounds like the problem you describe, the clutch will need to be replaced soon. A clutch kit will come with everything needed to install the clutch, even the throw out bearing. Let me know if you have any more questions! Not a problem! Just let me know which engine is in your Civic and I can get you an approximate estimate!Hmmm.. You sure on that one? Honda only installed 4 cylinder motors in the Civics. You either have a 1 or a 1 if you have a civic. The V6 was installed in the Accords of this generation. Let me know!Thats all I needed! You most likely have a 1 then. The clutch kit lists at the dealership for around $250 (aftermarket parts will be considerably less than this,) and the replacement calls for around 4 hours of labor. Labor rates are different based on your location, so to get an exact estimate, you will have to call around for labor rates and calculate the labor cost. You will also most likely see a little higher price on the parts, as most shops will add an additional percentage to parts prices. Good luck, and just let me know if you have any more questions! Not a problem! Good luck with the clutch!
