Anyone using an Electric Cooling fan?? : TR6 Tech Forum
Dec 23, 2013I've had the soldered in bung type on 2 TR6, one was in the top right of the actual radiator and the other was in the lower radiator pipe.I found no difference in the effective cooling provided by the electric fane there is a theoretical difference, but it went unnoticed by me.

Task: replacing the mechanical cooling fan with a sucker electric fan. I was not content with the small 12" fans marketed by the Triumph vendors, but there is a clearance problem between the radiator and the front frame rail (about 3.5"). So choice of a fan to mount behind the radiator is crucial.

Adding an Electric Fan – Moss Motoring
Hayden Thin-Line Fan kits from Moss include the fan/motor assembly, mounting hardware, thermostat control, and wiring harness. Install the fan on either the front or rear of the radiator as clearance allows. Front mounting was the only way on this TR6, so this job begins by removing the fiberboard shroud.
TR6 Electric cooling fan switch - where is best location
Jan 20, 2015I have a '71 TR6. I'm looking at installing an electric radiator fan. I like the Hayden sensor that has a 3/8 NPT male fitting as opposed to the clip on sensor. Has anyone installed this type of sensor? The thermostat housing has the temperature gauge sending unit threaded into it as well as a nipple for the heater hose going to the intake manifold.

After installing his kit, you have to mount your electric fan on the engine side of the radiator as a "puller". My problem was that the TR6 radiator is over 16" wide and I had a 12" fan. Your fan should really match your radiator and cover as much surface area as possible.

I used that switch because of the temp. range and also because it has a 1/2" pipe thread which made installation a breeze. The fan if memory serves, draws about 20 amps to start and 8 running. I think it is way more than is needed.
