compass: is there any electrical problem with JEEP - ASAP
Jan 08, 2013The reason being is if the battery is leaking, it tends to leak on the LEFT FRONT corner of the CVT transmission where the round electrical connector is located. If this happens, the Sulfuric Acid WILL penetrate the wiring insulation and the connector at this point.Hello, welcome and thanks for asking your question. My name isXXXXX am a Certified Auto Technician with 25+ years experience. I will do my best to assist you. I don't know your automotive experience level, so I may have to ask questions of you before I can answer. I only know as much about your concern as you have stated in your post, so please feel free to add as much detailed information as possible. Has the vehicle been scanned for codes? Any codes that may be stored will definitely help.. Let me know so we can continue..P0700 is telling you that there is a transmission code, but you must access the transmission controller with a scanner that can access the TCM, If you can post the actual codes that are retreived, I can continue to help.. Let me know if you can do that and I will gather the necessary info..Does this vehicle have the CVT Transmission? If so, The P0700 will definitely explain the issue, but you will need to take it to the dealer to scan the TCM.. Here is the diagnostics for the P0700 - Click here to view I have an idea as to a possible cause but need to know what transmission is in the vehicle.. Keep the original PCM on the vehicle as I am certain that there is not a problem with the modules, PCM or TCM, I am leaning towards a wiring issue.. If you are uncertain about which transmission it is equipped with, post the last 8 digits of the VIN and I will look it up..Hi, Ok - My recommendation is to first off have the mechanic check the battery for the possibility of battery acid leakage. If the battery is leaking sulfuric acid, I recommend replacing the battery. The reason being is if the battery is leaking, it tends to leak on the LEFT FRONT corner of the CVT transmission where the round electrical connector is located. If this happens, the Sulfuric Acid WILL penetrate the wiring insulation and the connector at this point. If this happens, your mechanic will have to obtain and solder in a CVT transmission connector package, this package will come with the connector and some wires that can be spliced into the existing harness. When you have acid penetrating the wiring in this area, it can cause several different concerns depending on which wires the acid actually penetrates. Once the mechanic inspects it, let me know if he finds a problem there with the battery leaking onto the transmission. If you find that it has happened, let me know, I will gather the part number necessary to perform this repair.. If you need additional information, don't hesitate to ask, I am happy to help as long as necessary to help solve your concern. Remember, a "Positive" Rating will not close this question, You can post a reply here whenever you want, even after rating my answer! . Thank you! RobertHi Max, Thanks for keeping me posted. If Acid intrusion is dectected, then you must replace the affected areas of the individual wires. If you find damage, you can purchase a connector kit from your local dealer. I'm posting a document listing the number required for the connector.. Case Number K34554225 Vehicle Issue CVT wiring repair kit.;For repairing connector pins for the CVT transmission control module due to battery acid damage or for P0713 codes. System or Component Part Maintenance / Adjustment / Repair Issue;Wiring Recommendation The parts are listed on the Mopar connector repair kit website, not in the standard starparts catalog. Last I checked the numbers were: 68018960AB 22way body harness to transmission connector. 68020947AA C1 "White" TCM connector 68020944AA C2 "Grey" TCM connector These have been described to me as an assembled connector with a few inches of wire. Modification Date 11/27/07 11:28 AM The 22-way connector is the most common one that is damaged... If you need additional information, don't hesitate to ask, I am happy to help as long as necessary to help solve your concern. Attachments are only available to registered users. Register Here . Thank you! RobertHi Max, At this time, the next step is going to be to read the codes from the Transmission Controller, we need the actual code that is stored in the TCM, The P0700 is not specific enough to find out where the problem is. You will likely need to take it to the dealer to have the TCM scanned. It is possible to have them just do a "Scan Only" diagnostic. If you can post the actual codes that are stored in the TCM, I can DEFINITELY point you in the right direction. Let me know if you can do this so we can continue.. As for Phone Number, Just Answer Policy REQUIRES that we communicate over this page, we are not allowed to give out personal info,,,,sorry Attachments are only available to registered users. Register Here Thanks for your understanding.. RobertThat is going to be a hard one, Your mechanic may be forced to purchase a scanner that can communicate with the TCM, We absolutely need the codes that are stored in that module before we can go any further, otherwise, we will just be going in circles.. Attachments are only available to registered users. Register Here Thanks, Robert
