What do the trainers really look for in an outstanding lifeguard in-training? How can I make sure I pass, preferably with flying colors? Thank you for any input! If some trainers, managers, and veteran lifeguards could put something out there, that would be great! UPDATE #1: I passed the first written test with 37/40! One down, two to go.

Jan 28, 2009how hard is the lifeguard test? im taking the lifeguarding classes soon and i have no clue what to expect. im a good swimmer and stuff. is their a written test? how hard is this going to be? im taking the test in PA if that makes any difference. haha just goes to show how clueless i am. please help!!Status: OpenIf your getting certified through the American Red Cross, its not a hard test. The written test for using breathing devices is what got me. But my teachers were also EMT's and they gave us some EMT training also.
The brick test was cake, I got my time in 1:12 and I hadn't been swimming for a couple weeks and I'd been up for the past 24 hours coming home from a trip.
You'll do good just make sure for your final exam you don't do what I did. We had to stay in the locker room and our teacher would come get us, and get us one by one. Anyway it was my turn and I came in the pool area. There was a woman drowning in the water. Anyway quick thinking me, I was wearing flip flops, shorts and a hoodie. I jumped into the pool clothes and all. I didn't grab the rescue tube. I managed to rescue the person but I got points deducted because I didn't use a tube also because I accidently cussed at the drowning woman when she made life more difficult. 2 Lessons for you
1. Always have a rescue tube with you

the class is very easy and really boring. i got all my certificates in a couple of weekends and the tests weren't a problem. the practical part was even easier if you're a good swimmer.
beach lifeguards have a whole different process, however. you have to try out, then go through a difficult training period.0For the best answers, search on this site https://shorturl/Ammk2
i hate e&a so much, they're so anal about anything. I worked for the fairfax county park authority, and they're complete psychos about everything. I'm surprised you're only going through 20 hours of training. I had to go through 32. It was a pretty nerve racking test, but all in all, it was pretty simple. Just act like you know what you're doing, and they're good, just show confidence. Study for sure, because as a lifeguard, you don't want anyone drowning on your watch. Make sure you take your time also, they do a lot of that trick question bs, atleast they did on my test. lol good luck!0RE:

im taking the lifeguarding classes soon and i have no clue what to expect. im a good swimmer and stuff. is their a written test? how hard is this going to be? im taking the test in PA if that makes any difference. haha just goes to show how clueless i am. please help!!0The written test isn't that hard, most of it is common sense stuff. The practical part can be either hard or easy depending on whether you go first or last. The struggling swimmer retrieval was tough for me, because I was first, the swimmer was energized and kind of bulky. After I tired him out, the others had it a bit easier.0I don't know what PA is. Im from BC and apparently we're the second highest trained lifeguards in the world. The test (written) isn't that hard, but we had lots of different spinal procedures (using one of those boards with all the straps) and that was the hardest for me!1You'll learn what you have to do in the class, and your test will be at the end of all the classes.
The test is fairly demanding, but this is good. You wouldn't want just anyone to be responsible for saving lives, would you?0It is not hard, especially if you are a good swimmer. The written tests are easy and they will teach to the test. If you can swim good then no problem on the swim part either.0it very eazy0How is the American Red Cross Lifeguard test? | Yahoo AnswersApr 05, 2013Status: Resolvedhow hard is lifeguard training? | Yahoo AnswersDec 04, 2010Status: ResolvedSee more resultsPeople also askWhat is the Red Cross lifeguard test? What is the Red Cross lifeguard test? The Red Cross certification tests are multiple-choice. 80% is passing.
