I am starting a reconditioning of my childhood 1947 vintage Lionel train. I have a Type R 110 watt Trainmaster transformer. Unfortunately I did not keep any manuals and I have no wiring instructions for hookup to the track and the controller.

Where can I get a schematic diagram for a Lionel 110 RW
You can't. These transformers aren't user serviceable. You can thank the Federal Government for that. If you can find the special tool to remove the case, you'll be able to open the transformer. For service, contact Lionel customer service or take the transformer to a Lionel Service Center.
