What is the best rpm to shift gears for daily driving? : BMW
I was shifting around 2000 rpm but it seems like there is some hesitation when I do. I guess that is too early for a car with a turbo. But in my old car, it had the recommended shift points in the owner's manual and that's what I got used to.Top responsesFor smooth, daily driving I shift between 2000 and 3000 rpm.2 votesJust feel it out and experiment around in different RPMs. Generally the lower RPM you shift the more gentle it is as the engine doesn't have to play catch up. read more2 votesI'm lazy so if I'm just driving around town and such I will often get up to a higher rpm in first/second and then skip a gear and go straight to third/fourth.2 votesShift suggesting on my 335i is just under 2k.1 voteE36 M3: If I'm not having fun I keep it under 3k.1 voteSee all

Is it easy/recomended to learn manual on a e46 m3? : BMW
Mar 03, 2015Bottom line; if you're able to pick up new skills easily/consider yourself a good driver, an e46 M3 is a relatively easy car to learn the finer points of a manual on. If you know nothing about driving a stick, go with something cheaper to learn on.Top responsesI'd really recommend getting someone who knows how to drive stick to ride shotgun with you and coach you as you first get going. Dinan Transmission Software may only be installed in conjunction with the matching Performance Engine Software as there is no benefit without the higher rev-limit.
