Moved fuel tank to the front and fuel filter is not full
Nov 27, 2012Moved my fuel tank to the bow. Used a 3/8 ID copper fuel line to back of boat. Flex hose and primer bulb from tank to copper. Back of boat copper stub out to flex hose. Flex hose to clear water seperating filter (clear plastic bowl with silk screen filter housing). Flex hose from filter to outboard. When I run the engine, starting with a full fuel filter, after sev mins the fuel filter level

Nov 29, 2008Re: Fuel Filter not Full? to answer your question,no. the bowl cannot stay full as its on the suction side of the fuel pumps. attach a fuel pressure guage to the VST output,attach a vacum guage t'd into the syatem at the lower lift pump intake. at wot fuel system vacum must remain less than 6"Hg and fuel pressure must remain at 35 PSI.

Dec 18, 2015I have a 1986 Evinrude 70hp. I have replaced most of the fuel lines, cleaned the fuel pump, replaced the in-engine fuel filter, rebuilt the carbs, replaced spark plugs, and checked compression. These things did improve the engine performance, but it still doesn't run as smoothly as it should. I have noticed that I can see air in the in-engine fuel filter while the engine is running.

Oct 27, 2011Re: Fuel problem - should my engine empty the glass fuel filter while idling? That fuel bowl should stay full while it's running. You may have a fuel issue. What I would do, is charge it up and unplug the fuel line from the carb. Put the end into a jar and see if it pumps gas into it. If not, then it's a pretty safe bet that your fuel pump is shot.

May 14, 2014Been noticing that my clear glass fuel filter is not keeping full, not even half full, you can see the gas bubbling, even at idol, I show 3.5 + psi. at idle, but will drop below 3, almost 2 when reved. The car starts & runs great up to about 4500 rpm's then sputters. I installed a new fuel pump, ( the old one craped out) .

Apr 11, 2016Gotta be between the tank and the engine, then. Is there a fuel filter in there (that you bypassed when on the portable tank)? Check to see if it’s clogged. If not, fuel line is the likely culprit — and in our experience, fuel lines are the most frequent source of trouble, period.
