Feb 26, 2016When you fit the Pertronix wire it exactly how the points where fitted, the only difference is the module requires a 12v power supply where the Points don't, Don't connect that red wire to the Coil + side as the instructions suggest as the Collapsing field of the coil means the Ignition module doesn't get a clean 12v feed.

Feb 25, 2006Pertronix coils come at either 1.5 ohm or 3 ohm. You have the 1.5 ohm coil apparently, which by the way, Pertronix doesn't recommend for 4 cylinder engines. But it will be fine as long as you continue to power the coil with the resistor wire.

Aug 10, 2005Wiring the black Pertronix wire and the tach signal wire to your negative battery post, or any ground, should result in an engine that will not start and a non-functional techometer. Wire it up correctly first, then run it without the tach, then run it with the tach.

May 27, 2018The people ate pertronix say He recommended I try running my installed 12V line directly to the ignitor and connect my resistor wire from the tach to the flame thrower lll coil. He explained the ignitor needs the full 12V but the flame thrower coil will operate fine with the reduced volts through the resistor wire.
