Dec 22, 2017Attached is a simulation schematic of a phantom-power supply I designed for a four-channel mic preamp a few years ago . . . so it's optimized for 40mA with extremely low noise and hum. The regulator certainly could do more if you size the raw supply accordingly. A few notes:
The 48V phantom power is very high voltage compared to the voltages normal audio equipments are designed to handle. You should be very careful to check that you do not supply phantom power to the inputs where you have anything else than balanced microphones or other equipments designed to handle 48V phantom power properly.
