Feb 06, 2012Looking for some quick assistance (easy one) on how to properly wire a 3-pin DC power jack. I don't need/want the switching pin. The positive pin I am assuming is the center. The switching pin I am assuming is the pin that does not have continuity when I test between it and the jack when inserted? Assuming that, gnd goes to the non-switching pin?USB - DC JACK Connection | All About CircuitsJul 22, 2014help wiring of dc power jack and spst | All About CircuitsSep 02, 2011Coax DC Power Jack | All About CircuitsNov 10, 2010DC power jack in OrCad | All About CircuitsNov 10, 2010See more results

Apr 10, 2010I'm attempting to wire in a different DC power jack (the original broke and direct replacements are not available except by purchasing a new motherboard) on an Inspiron 8600 and thought that it would be a rather straight forward project. The size N coaxial power jacks available at Radio Shack will fit nicely in the chassis in place of the original.
