Pre-war 3 brush dynamos can be easily converted to 2 brush & 12V as well. Apart from that, it's battery & bulbs. Some people will tell you that you have to fit a 12V armature & field coil, but if your dynamo is charging OK on 6V it will also charge OK on 12V without any mods.

Nov 11, 2010Re: BSA WIREING. In our list for each cable we also give the cross sectional area in sq mm and the continuous current carrying capacity in amps. The breakdown of the cable specification 28/0, 2mm2, 25amp is as follows: 28 strands of 0 diameter, 2mm2 cross sectional area, 25amp continuous current carrying capacity.

Wiring a Lionel Pre-War #2689W Tender | O Gauge
I just purchased a pre-war set with a nice #1666 locomotive. The tender, a #1689W, is nice as well except that someone cut the wiring and now I need someone to help me re-wire it. I saw a similar post on this site but the guy posting figured it out himself so there were no wiring diagrams
