The Realistic PZM (pressure zone microphone) is a microphone that I have used in the recording studio. Like most microphone of this nature, it can cross over to the live show world, but I've only used it in the studio, so my review will be about the use of the mic in this type of setting.

The original manual for those mics of the late 70's to mid 80's were actually pretty useful. People did use these mics for piano (as the manual showed), usually taping them securely to the underside of the lid. If you do use the 2 6-volt batteries, you must remove them from the mic when you aren't using it if I remember correctly.
