Jan 23, 2018I saw many Chevys and Fords back in the 80's that rodents had ruined the wiring harness. It's easy to chew off and makes great nesting material, which is why they do it. Only the smart mice do it though, those who are building a nest out of vinyl that will last 500 years and be waterproof. Much better than the dumb rats nest of grass and twigs.

Nov 15, 2017how do people keep the mice out of your wiring on the newer toyota trucks? i am getting a new wire harness put in when the 4x4 light came on and wouldn't engage. searches of the internet says the wires are covered with a soybean base. my truck is a 2014 tacoma and it sits for a time between uses. just wondering if anyone has ideas how to keep my wires safer.

Aug 16, 2012Toyota cars aren't the only brands that have mice problems, though. I used to park my Chevy pickup outside near some brush and the mice did $1300 worth of damag to its wiring. I cleaned the brush out and the mice went away. So, I suggest you do the same. If the mice don't live near your car, they are unlikely to migrate into it.
