How can I obtain a service/repair manual for a TRANE gas
How can I obtain a service/repair manual for a TRANE gas furnace How can I obtain a.. How can I obtain a service/repair manual for a TRANE gas furnace Model No. AUD100R948K4? Show More. Show Less. Ask Your Own HVAC Question. Share this conversation. Answered in 5 Customer: Hello there! I'm Norman but you can call me Norm. Let's see what I can do to get you some answers today. I'm ready to get started whenever you are. Customer: Hope you are doing well. Customer: Please give me a few minutes and I'm sure I have a copy of the manual you require. Customer: Attachment: 2012-12-16_184141_b-557-351 Full Size Image Check out this guide first. There is one numeral off but this seems to match up identical with your model. I will keep looking through my records for an exact match while you browse over it. Customer: After looking through all of the manuals that should be the one you need. Have you had a chance to look through it? Customer: It should provide a wiring schematic, sequence of operation and fault code explanation. All of what you would need for any service work on the furnace. Customer: Also, the furnace is actually an American Standard because of the AUD on the front. If it were a Trane it would be TUD but they are both made by the exact same company. Both are exactly the same components. Customer: I'm standing by when you are able to reply and let me know if this matches your request. JACUSTOMER-iyzceum8- : Unless you would like to tell me why the furnace doesn't ignite, this appears to satisfy my question. Customer: What flash code are you getting on the board? Customer: This can be seen while holding in the door switch after it fails to ignite. Customer: The LED light on the control board is where the flash will be seen. Just count the flashes. JACUSTOMER-iyzceum8- : I have been working without any manual, so I really only know that the 9 volt power disappears from the low vacuum switch before the fan really gets up to speed. Customer: Ok, it should be 24v so we obviously have some sort of a problem. Customer: How are you measuring? Are you measuring to ground or to C on the low voltage terminal board? JACUSTOMER-iyzceum8- : I have measured to ground. Customer: Ok. Lets get back to the furnace and set the thermostat for heating. Let the furnace work through it's phases and tell me while watching the led light what the flash code is after it fails to light. Sit by the furnace and hold the door switch in. JACUSTOMER-iyzceum8- : Can I reach you again in a few minutes? I have to go across the street. Customer: I will be online, just leave this page up and reply. Customer: I'll post a few steps for you. Customer: You should first have the inducer (small) fan start and run, followed by the pressure switch closing which then allows the gas valve to open and the ignitor to glow. If the ignitor never glows unplug it and put a probe in each socket on the side of the plug that goes back to the board. You should have around 120v applied to that plug after the inducer motor runs and closes the pressure switch. If you have around 120v and no-glow the ignitor is bad. If you never get voltage the problem is upstream from the ignitor, meaning the inducer/pressure switch/limit. The flash code will tell us alot though. JACUSTOMER-iyzceum8- : The LED flashes slowly with the control off, more rapidly when on and continues at that rate through the ignition attempt cycles. No limited number of flashes. Customer: Ok what about after it fails to light? Customer: The codes you indicate are normal operation so far. Customer: Also, do you notice the ignitor glowing? JACUSTOMER-iyzceum8- : The ignitor glows and it retries. Customer: Ok so we know it's glowing. DO me a favor and visually inspect the tip of the ignitor. See if you notice any cracks or burn marks, do not touch the tip with bare hands. Customer: You can easily remove the ignitor for inspection. Also look to see if the ignitor has white spots on it. Customer: You can also check to ensure 24v is being applied to the coil on the gas valve as the ignitor is glowing. But measure from wire to wire with your probes, not to ground. JACUSTOMER-iyzceum8- : The ignitor glows very brightly for a number of seconds. I must go meet a Rotor-Rooter now. Sorry! Customer: No problem. We can continue later. Just reply. Customer: We want to measure the voltage to the gas valve as our next step when you get back. JACUSTOMER-iyzceum8- : Hi Norm. I hope you are able to give me another shot at fixing the furnace today. JACUSTOMER-iyzceum8- : I have verified that the transformer voltage applied to the pressure switches is about 26 volts using pin 2 at the gas valve connector as a reference. I have not inspected the ignitor, but it glows very brightly for about 20 seconds. My concern is that the voltage applied to the 1st. stage solenoid is present for only about 3-4 seconds. Is this long enough? Can you suggest a safe way to test the valve? Also, I cannot locate the flame sensor - may it be involved? The LED flashing continues be slow or fast with no error code. . JACUSTOMER-iyzceum8- : Yesterday, at my condominium occupied by a nice older lady, the plumber found the cause of the toilet stoppage to be the spindle from the toilet paper dispenser lodged in the innards of the toilet. She had been puzzled by its disappearance. Customer: Hello again, unfortunately I can't be online today. Just got you message an jumped on really quick. I think if i opt out I can get another expert on your case so that you can get help quickly. I think that is fair since you are ready to work and I'm not able to help at the moment. Please stand by and do not rate our interaction, reserve that rating for the answering expert. Have a great day and best wishes. Someone should be with you shortly. In order to test the valve properly electrically you apply your meter leads to the mv term an com. you may only have voltage for a about 3 to 7 seconds, in order to test the valve to see if it's opening we will need a gas pressure tester/manometer, did you state earlier that the flames would engage or no? I believe you said the igniter would glow but nothing after that. If the flames start and shut down its a flame rectification problem and could be caused by a dirty flame sensor which is under the burner on the farthest burner opposite the igniter looks like a bent rod in porcelain, however I don't believe this is whats happening/ I believe your not getting gas to the burners.I'm very glad to hear you are up and going again. Merry Christmas!
