VOLVO ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR
eeuropartsImage: eeuropartsThe coolant temperature sensor on Volvo models with a normally aspirated 5-cylinder engine is mounted in the coolant housing on the right side of the engine, below the thermostat. It monitors the engine coolant on the engine side of the thermostat. This provides an accurate reading of both banks of the engine.

One is a coolant temperature sensor and the other is a coolant level sensor. Because of lack of clarity on which one you are enquiring on, ill explain how both work. The coolant temperature sensor is a variable resistor whose resistance changes as a function of temperaturee are two types in use.How exactly does a car coolant sensor work? - QuoraSee all results for this questionWhat is an engine coolant sensor? What is an engine coolant sensor?Engine Coolant Sensors. The engine coolant temperature (ECT)sensor is a relatively simple sensor that monitors the internal temperature of the engine. Coolant inside the engine block and cylinder head(s) absorbs heat from the cylinders when the engine is running.Engine Coolant Sensors - crxsiSee all results for this question
How to Locate the Coolant Temperature Sensor on the Volvo
How to Locate the Coolant Temperature Sensor on the Volvo S40. When your Volvo S40 overheats the culprit is usually the engine's thermostat. However, if you have replaced the thermostat and the "check engine" light is still on, the issue could be the coolant temperature sensor. The coolant temperature sensor, or CTS,..
Volvo Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor 9186486 - FAE
About Engine Coolant Temperature Sensors. The engine coolant temperature sensor is used to measure the temperature of the engine coolant of the vehicle. The readings from this sensor are then fed back to the engine control unit (ECU), which uses this data to adjust the fuel injection and ignition timing. Volvo OE No.
"No start" and Check Engine Light Due to Engine Coolant
The engine will crank over but will not start. The Check Engine Light is on and/or there is a diagnostic code for the engine coolant temperature sensor (ECT). This may be caused by a faulty sensor (located at the back of the cylinder head).
Coolant Temp Sensor.. - Volvo Forums - Matthews Volvo Site
Jul 16, 2012Re: Coolant Temp Sensor.. Beginning with the 850's and then on all new model Volvos since, the engine has one coolant temp sensor. The sensor is wired directly to the ECM. The ECM controls the fan for engine temp and sends a signal to the cluster and to the climate control if car has ECC. Cluster uses the signal for gauge.
Coolant temp sensor failure - Volvo XC Resources
Jan 18, 2008This is what Volvo says about this sensor:-----The engine coolant temperature (ECT) sensor checks the temperature of the engine coolant. The temperature of the engine coolant is required so that the engine control module (ECM) can regulate: *the injection period *the idle speed *the engine cooling fan (FC) *the ignition advance
