Mar 26, 2016To answer the OP's original question: The correct method to prime (fill) the fuel system is to use a VW specific scan tool and go to "basic settings" and enter a 35 in the test window. Then you can easily run both electric fuel pumps to completely purge all air from the system.

Plus, once you start the vehicle, the lift pump is already sending fuel from the tank into the filter housing. The seems to be no concrete data either way but some people will swear to one way or the other. Jul 27, 2017There must be no risk to test it with no changing, priming the fuel pump just fills up the diesel line and filter, when the lines are full with diesel it just goes back into the fuel tank by using the return line. May there is a way to prime the pump by making a bridge at the fuel pump relais.
